Hey, Pay Attention to This!!

by | Apr 7, 2025

In a world flooded with noise, distractions, and endless choices, your attention is your most valuable currency. Every time you focus on something—whether it’s a conversation, a thought, a piece of media, or even a fleeting worry—you are “buying” that experience. You are investing in it. You are saying, This matters enough to become part of me.

I’m not making this up. That’s what really happens. When you pay attention to something, you own it. It becomes part of your mental and emotional landscape. It weaves itself into the fabric of your memory, your mindset, and eventually, your identity.

So the question is: What are you “buying” with your attention?

Attention Is an Investment, A Choice…

Think of your attention like money. Would you spend your hard-earned cash on something that makes you feel worse, poisons your perspective, or leaves you drained and empty? Of course not. But we do it all the time with our attention.

We scroll through outrage. We consume drama. We replay the hurtful comment someone made years ago. We dwell on fears that haven’t happened. We buy these things with our focus, over and over again—and then wonder why we feel anxious, tired, or stuck.

If you wouldn’t buy garbage with your money, don’t buy it with your attention.

If a bird lands on your head, you don’t need to let it build a nest!!

We don’t always get to choose what shows up in our awareness—but we do get to choose what we engage with. What we buy into. What we allow to take root and grow.

In the end, your attention shapes your reality. You are constantly curating the inner museum of your life—what you focus on becomes the art on the walls.

So protect that space.

Let the good things in. The inspiring, the beautiful, the true. Let them settle in and grow roots.

And when something negative shows up—because it will—remember this:

If a bird lands on your head, you don’t have to let it build a nest.

Notice it. Laugh at it if you want. Then shoo it away, and move on.

Your attention is too valuable to waste on things that weigh you down. Spend it on what lifts you up.

Because you are what you pay attention to—and you deserve to become something incredible.

Be Ruthless with What You Let In

Not everything deserves your attention. Just like your home, your mind needs boundaries. You get to choose what you let in. Choose beauty. Choose inspiration. Choose people and ideas and images that lift you to a higher place.

Ignore the clickbait.
Mute the chaos.
Refuse the spiral of negativity.
Walk away from the things that cheapen your spirit.

Pay Attention to the Best

Life is full of moments that can elevate you—if you notice them. A kind word. A deep breath. Music that stirs your soul. The stillness of a quiet morning. The laughter of someone you love. These things don’t just pass through you—they become you when you give them your attention.

Start treating your attention like the sacred, limited resource it is. Spend it on what makes you better. Stronger. Lighter. Wiser. Happier.

When you pay attention to the best things, you rise with them.

So be selective. Be intentional. Be wise.

Because what you pay attention to isn’t just what you experience—it’s what you become.

And you deserve to become something extraordinary.
